(Guy) Hi.
(Guy) I'm Guy Maddalone, Founder & President of A New England Nanny.
(Guy) Welcome to our online Educational Video Series.
(Guy) Today we're going to discuss "Searching for Your Nanny: Traditional Agency Services versus Online Job Site Searches".
(Guy) With me is New England Nanny's Agency Director Melissa Schoonmaker. (Melissa) Thank you Guy.
(Guy) Melissa is going to be talking to us about using a traditional agency and the benefits thereof.
(Melissa) One of the things an agency can offer you is time-savings, where all searches are assisted by an agency personnel. (Melissa) They do all of the job postings and also manage all of your job postings.
(Melissa) They also provide you with pre-screened applicants. They do the phone and face to face interviews; as well as the reference checks and employment checks.
(Melissa) The agency will also conduct all background checks on the providers.
(Melissa) They offer experienced personnel, which can assist your with guidance with the job offer, the job description; as well as your compensation package.
(Melissa) An agency will also provide you with tax and payroll advice and service; and also refer you for free consultations.
(Melissa) The agency offers ongoing support before, during and after the placement is made; with an access to a large temporary back-up service.
(Melissa) In comparison, the online job site searches, a family must spend countless hours on their own search.
(Guy) On the other hand, online job site searching, there is no assistance from these web sites.
(Guy) Families will spend countless hours searching on their own. Families will have no assistance in trying to attract candidates to their position.
(Guy)Families are on their own for the entire search process.
(Guy) The families conduct all pre-screenings and interviews as they see fit.
(Guy) Families will conduct any references and employment checks to their own standards; and families would conduct any background checks, again to their own standards.
(Guy) It's important to note there is no personnel or guidance in this entire process.
(Guy) Families are responsible for creating their own job offer. There's no resources for employment policies and no guidance on fair hiring and compensation packages.
(Guy) Families are on their own for tax and payroll compliance. Note there's exposure and risk for non-compliance.
(Guy)There is no support during the process or after the process; including no backup services for any temporary personnel if your primary person becomes ill or cannot make it to work.
(Guy)Melissa will discuss the differences between agencies service benefits and the online job site searching.
(Melissa) Here are some differences you will see when you're using an agency to find your nanny, as opposed to going online and searching on your own. One of the differences is time savings.
(Melissa) The agency will conduct all of your pre-screened interviews for you, search for applicants for you, versus online where you'll have to spend countless hours doing this on your own.
(Melissa) The agency will also provide you with experienced personnel. Whereas online will receive no personnel or guidance throughout your search.
(Melissa) They offer payroll and tax advice and service.
(Melissa) And using online, you are required to do this on your own.
(Melissa) They also offer post-placement support with an agency; before, during and after the placement. And with an online job site search you are provide with no support; prior to your search, during and after your search.
(Guy) The primary difference is that using an agency service, you're going to save time and money. Today's resources, www.ANewEnglandNanny.com, 20 year old firm in upstate New York.
